Company Profile

MK2 Engineers is a Northern California consulting engineering firm specializing in innovative, energy efficient design of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire protection systems for wineries, schools, commercial buildings and healthcare facilities.

Since its founding in 1998, MK2 Engineers has designed over 1000 projects throughout California.  With its core of 5 professional engineers and senior designers, MK2 is able to offer a wide variety of expertise and experience and deliver projects on time and on budget.

Locally, MK2 has provided engineering services for Niebaum-Coppola Estate Vineyard and Winery, Ravenswood Winery, Palmaz Family Winery, Napa River Inn, Napa Riverfront, Napa Square, The Hatt Market, Angele Restaurant, The French Laundry, Napa County Sherriff and Napa County Hall of Justice.

MK2 Engineers is in the forefront of a growing technology, using the latest techniques to offer solutions for solving your engineering problems.

Each of our employees and members of our Teams of Consultants are selected because of their passion to do excellent professional architecture and engineering services and their commitment to superb customer service and perform the services in a timely manner.

The firm's practice is to focus project teams in such a manner to ensure continuity of essential staff and personal involvement with the needs of our clients.

“One of the keys to our success is doing everything possible to ensure the success of our clients.”

Each member of our staff has distinct strengths and special abilities. Our commitment to on-going professional development training ensures an understanding of the latest technical and code requirements and new techniques and systems to save energy and life cycle costs and enhance the experience of the occupants of the building.

Teamwork is an intrinsic part of daily operations, as well as a commitment to quality and excellence. While individual efforts are always encouraged and supported, MK2 has found that the results of a Team effort are often far better than the sum of its parts.

Each Project requires specialized technical experience and we assemble a specific Team from which we can draw the expertise required to deliver the best solutions for our Client.

Most often the lead Architects and Engineers on our Team have worked together on many projects.

The personnel assigned to each project have extensive design, analysis, and communications capability.

“Communication is the key to excellent Teamwork.”

MK2 has a record of excellent performance in terms of cost control, quality of work, and compliance with performance schedules. As a matter of policy, the construction cost for all projects is estimated before proceeding with the design and a detailed scope of work. This initial effort helps to determine a realistic construction budget and an appropriate period of service for design.

“Every project we ask, how can we do this better?”

MK2 has used AutoCAD as the primary engineering document software over twenty (20+) years. We use state of the art software for Design, 3D, office systems, customer relationships, resource planning, Project Administration, accounting and financial management. We utilize in house high speed plotters and an FTP site for transfer of large drawing files to consultants, contractors, and clients.

In addition to conventional HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire protection, MK2 offers a wide range of additional services including project management, energy conservation, feasibility studies, regulatory agency approval and construction management.
